Open Daily Christmas for the Critters at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center.(December 15th – December 31st) at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center. Help make the holidays more joyful by donating food for the enrichment of the bears and wolves (please call the Center specific needs). Bring in your donation and we will give you $1.25 off an adult regular admission, 10% off any gift shop purchase and oodles of gratitude! Located at 201 S. Canyon Street next to the IMAX Theatre.

West Yellowstone Ice Skating Rink & Sledding Hill. Skate rentals are available at Westmart (open 8:00AM-5:00 PM). The rink is located at Pioneer Park at the corner of Gibbon Ave. & Dunraven St. (Westmart is closed on Sundays. Please rent skates Friday or Saturday before noon for the weekend.)

Open Daily Scavenger Hunt Pick up your clues at the KNS Headquarters at the West Yellowstone Visitor Center at 30 Yellowstone Avenue and venture around the town to find the hidden treasures. Take pictures of what you find and show them to the coordinator at the headquarters by 2pm Sunday for your prize!

5:30PM-9:00PM West Yellowstone Christmas Stroll**FREE**
Kick off the fun with the 10th Annual "Parade of Lights", kids activities, and more.
5:30 pm - Parade of Lights begins.
6:00 pm - Santa arrives at the Christmas Tree.
6:00-7:00 pm - Meet the West Yellowstone Sled Dog Races mushers and their teams in front of Wild West Pizzeria.
6:15 pm - 9:00 pm - Stroll around town for that perfect gift 7:00 pm - Movie for kids k-6th grade at the IMAX Theatre.
The Parade of Lights travels down Canyon Avenue to the Visitor Center at 30 Yellowstone Avenue for Santa's arrival and tree lighting. Meet the mushers in front of Wild West Pizza at 14 Madison Avenue. See Santa at Madison Crossing located at 121.

9:00AM West Yellowstone Sled Dog "Rodeo Run" Race - FREE
The yips of eager dogs will pierce the winter mornings as mushers prepare for the return of Sled Dog Races to West Yellowstone. Paws will pound as sleds and mushers head off down the trail. Come early at 8:30 am before the races start to watch the mushers get their teams harnessed and ready to start. Races begin at 9:00 am with 12-dog teams the first off. 8-dog and 6-dog teams. Teams will finish around 11:00am to noon. 4-dog Juniors will race at approximately 12:30pm, or 15 minutes after the finish of the 6, 8, and 12-dog classes. 4-dog Adult will race 15 minutes after the finish of the Junior race, and 3-dog Skijor will race 15 minutes after the finish of the 4-dog Adult (approximately 1:30pm). Located at the "Old Airfield", which is the large field on the western edge of West Yellowstone, just off Iris Street.
4:30PM Family Snowshoe Adventure – GWDC FREE - NEW
Use snowshoes, GPS, and compasses to seek out animal tracks in the snow.  Dress to be outdoors! This is a guided program with a limited number of snowshoes available free of charge from the Chamber or others can be rented at: Freeheel & Wheel, Bud Lilly’s and Yellowstone Alpen Guides. Please pre-register to reserve your snowshoes on the Contact Page.  Feel free to bring your own snowshoes as well or trek on foot.

Join a naturalist from the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center for a presentation featuring live raptors! Meet some of our resident, non-releasable raptors and discover the adaptations that help them to survive our Yellowstone winters. Located at the West Yellowstone Visitor Center, 30 Yellowstone Avenue.
10:00AM Snowshoe Walk with a NPS Ranger - FREE
Discover Yellowstone’s fascinating winter ecology while wearing snowshoes. Join a ranger for a 2-mile walk into Yellowstone National Park along the Riverside Trail. Meet at the West Yellowstone Visitor Information Center at the corner of Yellowstone Avenue and Canyon Street in West Yellowstone, Montana. Bring snowshoes—no experience necessary. Also bring water and a snack. For information, please call 307-344-2876. Allow 2 hours for the program. A limited number of snowshoes are available free of charge from the Chamber or others can be rented at: Freeheel & Wheel, Bud Lilly’s and Yellowstone Alpen Guides. Kids from 6 - 11 years old can try out a child-sized Arctic Cat M120 Snowmobile setup for a slow, safe ride. All children must be accompanied by an adult and the adult must sign a release of liability. Recommend snow boots and gloves. Helmets provided. New Location: Pioneer Park at the corner of Gibbon Ave. & Dunraven St.
2:00PM Afternoon Talk with a Park Ranger FREE
Join a ranger for a 45 minute program highlighting a fascinating aspect of Yellowstone’s natural, cultural, or scenic wonders. Program descriptions will be posted in the West Yellowstone Visitor Information Center (corner of Yellowstone Ave. and Canyon St.), and at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center at 201 South Canyon Street. Talks are free and open to the public. There is a fee to visit the rest of the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center.
2:30PM Owl Pellets – GWDC FREE - NEW
Dissect real owl pellets and learn about what these native predators eat during the winter months.  We will have limited amounts of owl pellets, but families can work together for this hands-on exploratory program.
2:30PM Let’s Dress a Snowman. FREE - NEW
Kids will enjoy their snowshoeing skills and participate in outdoor games.   Show off your artist talent as we will decorate snowmen. Program lasts 1 hour.  Please dress for the outdoors and wear a snow type boot.  Lead by a Forest Service Snow Ranger. 6:00PM-9:00PM “Smores and Skating” - FREE** Join the fun from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the West Yellowstone Ice Rink. Warm-up with hot beverages, toast some marshmallows, and make your own S' more. All the fixings provided. Bring your own sled for our Kid's Sledding Hill. Or, try out West Yellowstone's ice skating rink. Skates available. Old-fashioned family fun for everyone of every age. New Location: Pioneer Park at the corner of Gibbon Ave. & Dunraven St.

Join us for fun and games at the community ice rink. Children of all ages welcome. Come dressed for outdoor conditions. Ice Rink is located at Pioneer Park at the corner of Gibbon Ave. & Dunraven St.

3:00PM Snow Wall of Art – FREE - NEW
Break out your creativity and create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece on the snowy white canvas. Kids will be given a spray bottle full of water that is tinted with food coloring to decorate a snow wall. All ages welcome. Location: North east end of Pioneer Park near skating rink.
